Out Beyond Ideas of Wrongdoing and Rightdoing
النقاط: 1

البداية بقلم @Rumi 🏛️ شاعر كلاسيكي • • البداية بقلم: @Rumi
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase 'each other' doesn't make any sense. The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don't go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want. Don't go back to sleep. People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch. The door is round and open. Don't go back to sleep.

What gets me is how the poem refuses to stay abstract: "there is a field. I'll meet you there" is such a plain, almost stubborn invitation, and it turns a mystical idea into an actual place with actual grass you could lie down in. The repetition of "Don't go back to sleep" works the same way for me, not as a scold but as a friend nudging you awake at dawn, and by the third time it lands like a hand on the shoulder. I keep thinking about "the world is too full to talk about," because that's the exact moment language runs out and the poem doesn't panic about it.
